Venomous Central American Jumping pit viper (Metlapilcoatlus), amazing venomous snake in Costa Rica

Central American Jumping pit viper (Metlapilcoatlus mexicanus) is a venomous snake living in tropical forests from Mexico to Panama. We filmed this snake species in Costa Rica. Jumping pit vipers are famous for jumping when they strike and attack, but is that really true? Do they jump when they want to bite? These snakes have massive heads compared to their body size and belong to one of the most impressive venomous snakes of Americas. When Jumping pit viper bites, it holds and does not let go as most other pit vipers.
