How to Enable or Disable Advanced Search Indexing Options in Windows 11/10

Windows 10 lets you create and manage a Search Index to show search results quickly, irrespective of the keyword. However, if you want to prevent others from tweaking some of the Indexing Options, you can disable Advanced indexing options in Windows 10. No third-party app is required as you can block this option using Registry Editor and Local Group Policy Editor.

By default, Windows will use the index when searching to give you faster search results. The search index only includes your selected locations. These locations can be filtered for what file types (extensions), file properties, and file contents you want indexed.

Issues addressed in this tutorial:
search index windows 11
search index windows 10 not working
turn on search index windows 10
turn on search index windows 11
search index not working in windows 10

Windows 11,10, 8, and 7 use the Index for faster search results. You can narrow down the search criteria, but most geeks like to disable Indexing for better performance. In this tutorial, we're going to disable access to Advanced Indexing options so no one can make changes.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Huawei and Samsung.
