Lilian Harvey, superstar of the early 1930's, sang this lovely waltz in the movie "Ich und the Kaiserin" which was made in German, French and English versions... It was directed by the famous composer Friedrich Hollaender, with additional music by Franz Wachsmann. It was one of the last filmoperettas in the style of "Der Kongress tanzt".
It premiered on 22/02/1933... Friedrich Hollaender, Franz Wachsmann, producer Erich Pommer, writers Walter Reisch and Robert Liebmann had to leave Germany after the nazis came to power... Comedian Paul Morgan, who also starred in this movie, died in Buchenwald in 1938... With this song, Lilian Harvey said goodbye to her German audiance and left for Hollywood. She returned to Germany and the UFA-studios in 1935 and left again in 1939.

The fact that the movie was able to premiere in Germany at all was due to the enormous production costs, having been filmed in 3 versions. Lilian Harvey's co-star in the French and English version was none other than Charles Boyer...
