On July 23, 2024, Bayraktar's third prototype unmanned fighter plane, the Kızılelma PT-3 from Turkiye, successfully concluded ground tests with its new, more potent AI-322F engine.
Defense company Baykar is currently developing an unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) called Kızılelma (Red Apple) that is propelled by jets.
Given that unmanned technology will likely dominate air combat in the future, Bayraktar Kızılelma is expected to play a bigger and bigger role.
With its stealth qualities that prevent radar detection and aggressive mobility, Kızılelma is intended to be a formidable force.
This UCAV will also be capable of conducting operations with internally carried munitions and landing and taking off on aircraft carriers with short runways.
The operational height of the Bayraktar Kızılelma is 10,700 meters, and its maximum speed is 0.9 meters per hour. Its cruising speed is 0.6 meters per hour. It can stay in the air for five hours and has a fighting radius of 926 km/h.
This military drone can carry a range of payloads weighing up to 1.5 tons, including a variety of weaponry in its belly, and has a maximum take-off weight of 8.5 tons.
Its low radar cross section (RCS), great maneuverability, and totally autonomous takeoff and landing are among its innovative features.
And because of its AESA radar, it has great situational awareness in addition to Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) capabilities.
In 2013, the process of developing Bayraktar Kızılelma commenced. It made a successful first flight in December of 2022.
The Bayraktar Kızılelma is anticipated to enter general production in 2024, and flight tests from the Turkish Navy's TCG Anadolu aircraft carrier are scheduled for 2025. RBS-
