God’s Own People, is a documentary movie depicting the relationship of devotees with the Lord Jagannath. Nabakalebara marks the demise and rebirth of Lord Jagannath and his siblings. It's an age old ritual of Shree Jagannath temple in Puri. The documentary depicts the journey of a neem tree lovingly cared for by a lady in a nearby household which is chosen for the carving of the new idols of the Holy Trinity.
The date for Nabakalebara depends on the almanac positions as per the Hindu calendar. The Nabakalebara which took place in 2015 came after a gap of 19 years.
The film speaks about the devotion of a devotee, her love for the lord, caring and separation.
