It took me a decade to find this dream kit, but I'm so happy it's in my basement now. Take a peek at a crowning achievement of the Japanese drum manufacturing market. 🥁

I've wanted a vintage Yamaha Recording Custom for a long time. Ever since seeing clips of Steve Gadd doing his thing, I've been smitten. And after seeing a kit in this finish over a decade ago, I've been on the hunt for my own ever since. I found this one last winter in New Jersey, and I'm happy to have given it a good home now in Wisconsin. The kit includes a 22x14" kick, 12x8" and 13x9" toms, a 16x16" floor tom, and a 14x5" matching wood snare drum.

I've owned Yamaha Stage Custom and Yamaha Tour Custom kits previously, which are great beginner and intermediate drum sets. I've even owned Yamaha Maple Absolute kits too, and those were phenomenal – some of the best drums built in the early 2000s. But these vintage Recording Custom drums are so different from those drums and the most recent Yamaha PHX Phoenix or Absolute Hybrid kits. It's worth giving these old tubs a listen in this video today if you're looking for the ULTIMATE studio machine!

I've also got Turkish Cymbals going here too – 15" Millennium hats, 20" Meta Crash, 22" Millennium Ride, and a 24" Prototype Special Dry Extra Thin Ride.

Music used for drumming here comes from my drumless tracks, which are a great free practice resource for all drummers.
