How to tune your force feedback in BeamNG.drive the right way!  Most players don't know about making a csv file so here's how to apply one and optimize your FFB settings!

Few notes:

1) Gear Cogging - There’s lots of play in gear-driven wheels because there’s a disconnect between the input and output drive.  Smoothing may not have a big affect on removing the cogging effect produced by heavily gapped and worn gears.  But you can reduce cogging (sometimes) by adjusting the smoothening as shown within this video.  But do NOT expect your results to be as smooth.

2) How Much Clipping Is Acceptable - The amount of clipping you should allow is very dependent on your wheel’s max force and the type of driving you’re doing.  High force wheels should never clip under normal driving conditions.  Lower force wheels such as the Logitech G29 should have a considerable amount.  Preference is up to each user.

3) Max Smoothen - Leaving smoothing at the max will produce the smoothest results but will remove details produced by bumps and textures.

4) Low FPS Effects - BeamNG samples force feedback based on each frame.  Lower frames will result in less data being transferred to your wheel.  I noted this as producing a “vague”, force because lower frames will only send you partial samples of what’s happening.

5) Wheel Checker Stops - Having a csv file does NOT mean the tester worked.  Moza wheel bases seem to be notorious for wheel crashes during the test with their recent Pithouse update.  Some other brands may have a similar issue due to software and hardware limitations.  The only thing I can suggest here is rolling back software updates or waiting for the next revision.

6) Direct Drive Wheels - Some direct drives have decent calibration options built into their software to get a similar linear response curve.  Though not perfect, well made direct drive wheels should be close enough if the WheelChecker isn’t working properly.

7) Wheel Shaking After Adding the .csv File - Try converting your .csv to a LUT file if your wheel shakes when uploading a .csv file.
