In the third episode of
In the third episode of Growing Trees From Seed, we are looking at how I 'Store Seeds' for the spring season.
Specifically, Oak Trees. Looking at the two main oak categories (black and white oaks), we store seeds on their different dormancy needs, as some acorns can be planted right after falling from the tree.

Black Oaks need to go through a slight period of cold dormancy, before sprouting in the spring. Learn how to store seeds using this technique and get your seeds ready to plant for April-May.
In this two-part episode we look at how to store Red Oak Acorns, and Bur Oak acorns. We will also look at how test for good and bad seeds found in the forest.
**You should not leave seeds in plastic bags for more than two days, out of the refrigerator or a cold cellar, if using seeds for planting
**Remove acorn caps prior to storing and planting to prevent mold and promote enhanced germination and sprouting in the spring.
