Hello guys! In this video, I show you how to play Half-Life: Alyx Without VR Headset using Mouse & Keyboard! Using the first version of HL:A release, and making use of some launch commands, we can get it working without VR!

1) browse to:

2) Open or create the following file:
user_keys_default.vcfg
3) Copy and paste this inside it:

4) Now the controls should work!
5) If the controls don't work, make sure your keyboard layout is ENGLISH US, and not any other keyboard!
If Console Doesn't Open When ~ Key is Pressed:
1) Go to:
%GAMEDIRECTORY%\Half-Life Alyx\game\hlvr\cfg
2) Create a new file called:
autoexec.cfg
3) In the file, type:
con_enable 1
-console
4) In the same folder, open the file called:
skill_manifest.cfg
5) Add the following line to the file:
exec autoexec.cfg
6) Restart game and it should be working now!
*If you want to enable hands (Required to progress further in some areas) *
1) Type in the following command in the console:
vr_enable_fake_vr_test 1
OR
vr_enable_fake_vr 1
2) WARNING: But by using this command, collisions get turned off and you are unable to walk on the floor.
If you want to enable weapons
1) Type in the following command in the console:
impulse 101
If you want to edit your display settings
1) Go to:
Game\hlvr\config
2) Create or open a file called:
autoexec.cfg
3) copy paste these 2 commands in it:
-novr
con_enable 1
4) Remove the startup commands you created on the shortcut, i.e which are done in the first step!
5) Now the game should work!
I'm going to try and find ways to fix all these issues, until then, you're going to have to play like this!
p.s: Some objects can't be interacted using this method, I'm trying to fix it and will post a video soon after I find a way to do it, so subscribe if you wanna be notified!
