Yamuna is one of the most beautiful and sacred rivers of India. Rising from the Bandarpoonch ranges of Garhwal Himalayas, Yamuna first pass through historic Yamunotri Dham Temple, six kilometers away from the last motorable point Janakichatti, in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state. From an altitude of 3,295 meters, the rivers beautifully moves downwards and is strengthened by various streams. The first big confluence of Yamuna is at Hanumanchatti where Hanuman Ganga merge into it. It then move again and pass through Tiladi, Barkot, Naingaon and embracing various other streams and rivers like Burny Gad, Aglad etc and flows to the Yamuna Pul, about thirty kilometers from Mussoorie. Afterwards, it again pass through a beautiful journey before having a huge meet with river Tons, which is much bigger than Yamuna, at Kalsi, the border town with Himachal Pradesh.

The plan journey of the Yamuna start from Paunta Saheb in Himachal Pradesh, the historic Gurudwara and then it pass through Kaleshwar and Hathinkund, barrage, in Haryana state where the river water is used for irrigation projects in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. By the time, Yamuna reach Delhi, it is converted into a sewage drainage. It is painful to see how a pious, pristine river from the Himalayas is turned into a drain in Delhi. By the time, it leaves Delhi, you can see the white patches of in the river. It is a painful story to watch it. The water in Yamuna at Vrindavan and Mathura too stink though the river landscape in Mathura is superb particularly in winters when thousands of white birds can be found in the river.

After Mathura, it pass through Taj Mahal in Agra. Yamuna from the back of Taj Mahal is not visible due to mountains of land on river bed as well as fog during the winter. At Bhareh, in Etawaha district Yamuna is infused with life and dignity by the much cleaner water of Chambal river. At five kilometer away Pachnada, the river is further joined by three more rivers, Sind, Quary, Pahuj. Moving towards Hamirpur, Betwa river joins Yamuna and at Chillaghat, near Banda, Ken too flows into it then making Yamuna much bigger than Ganga, at Prayagraj when they finally meet. At Prayagraj, Yamuna is merged into Ganga which continue its journey towards Banarase and building various empires and civilisation, Ganga continues its yatra.

We need to protect and preserve our beautiful rivers who are our life line. This film is my understanding of this precious river. Your feedback is welcome.
