In 2008 an oil pipeline owned by Shell began spilling oil in Bodo Creek in Nigeria. Oil kept pouring out for more than two months before it was fixed. By then, many of the 70.000 people living in Bodo village were no longer able to fish - the source of their livelihood and sustenance. Pastor Christian, owned a fish farm near the Bodo river. The pollution killed much of the river's marine life. Pastor Christian and his community have become impoverished now that the fish, the air and the water are poisoned.
