6 Places To Find The VIN Number On Your Car.
Here Are The Most Common Places to Find A VIN Number.
In this video we will give you the top 6 most common locations to find a vin number on any car or SUV.
Number 1.
Check for the VIN number in the bottom corner of the front windscreen.
Number 2.
Check for a VIN Number sticker, or VIN Plate located on the inside of the drivers or passenger door post.
This is also sometimes referred to as the build plate. It will contain various details of the vehicle including the vehicles VIN number.
It will either be riveted to the vehicle or more commonly be printed on a tamper proof sticker that will rip if anyone tries to remove it.
Number 3.
Check in the drivers or passengers foot-well, including just under or to the side of the front seat. Many vehicles have the vehicles vin number stamped into the floor.
It will either be under a flap of carpet or there will be a lift up plastic cover giving access to the VIN Number.
Number 4.
Check in the engine compartment.
Open the hood and check in the following locations.
On some older cars there is often a VIN plate riveted on the front panel. More often the number is stamped into the firewall just below the rain channel.
It is often located in the center or just to the left of center. It may also be accompanied by a riveted VIN plate.
You should also check on top of the suspension housing. A dome shaped area inside the engine compartment above the wheel. The VIN number may be stamped adjacent to this location.
Number 5.
Check in the boot or trunk.
The VIN Number is on some cars occasionally located in the boot or trunk area. It is stamped or on a VIN plate or VIN sticker found under the carpet. On occasions it may be under the spare wheel.
Number 6.
Check for the VIN Number on the Chassis.
Many vehicles, usually the larger 4 by 4 vehicles such as Land Rovers have the VIN number stamped into the chassis frame.
It can be located by looking either behind or just in front of the front wheel.
To view this you should turn the wheel to the right and check along the flat surface that faces you.
Occasionally the VIN may be found towards the back of the wheel or under the driver or passenger door. You may need the use of a brush to remove any dirt and a torch to see it clearly.
Before starting out trying to find the VIN Number. To save time you should always check the owner's manual first, as the exact VIN location for your model may be listed. You could also make a call to the local dealership who should also be able to assist.
Finally, many modern cars with CPU's will also have the vin number stored in the vehicle's computer.
