We verified deep scratches on the surface of the steel using three methods.
(1) Brush application as is (6 coats)
(2) Apply masking tape above and below the scratches and apply brush strokes (6 coats)
(3) Dilute touch-up paint on Tamiya airbrush (6 coats)
In this case, method (2) was appropriate.
Polishing with No. 2000 without masking tape dented the area around the repaired surface.
Note that even with a fine grit No. 2000, if you grind too hard, the paint will be scraped off and distorted.
In the case of shallow scratches with only one or two coats of touch pen, the method (1) may be sufficient, but the air brush method (3) seems to be easy and clean.
Touch-up pen repair mistakes can be wiped off with air touch redo spray or lacquer thinner. (The manufacturer's original paint will not dissolve.)
