This video from Sears PartsDirect shows how to replace a defrost heater in a top-freezer refrigerator. The refrigerator defrost heater melts frost from the freezer’s evaporator fins. If the defrost heater fails, frost builds up on the evaporator fins, blocking ventilation and resulting in warm freezer temperature.  If you notice excessive frost build up in the freezer and warmer than normal temperatures in the refrigerator, you may need to replace the defrost heater.
