3rd Rail Allegheny #1607 with PS3 on a C&O coal drag, Weaver New Haven I5 Hudson with PS3 Sunday Run

Hello again, and happy Steamer Sunday!

This is a project which has been in planning for months :).

I decided to upgrade the 3rd Rail Allegheny to Protosound 3! I found the upgrade to be nominally difficult, but overall has gone well. This is the Allegheny from the 1996 run, pulling a mix of MTH, Lionel, and Weaver hoppers from the Chesapeake and Ohio, Union Pacific, and New Haven roads. What I love is that the articulation still looks quite pronounced, even on my O-90 loop! If I run this on my O-80 loop, the articulation actually makes it such that I can’t run 18” passenger cars; only 16” and smaller won’t make contact!!!

Also featured is the recently upgraded Weaver New Haven I5 streamlined Hudson, pulling two different sets of the MTH Premier passenger cars.

Both these locomotive upgrades are my work, and outside of being proud of the upgrades I really enjoy watching them run! These have unique character, even on my fairly plain/empty basement layout, and really are a joy to operate.
