This video however is all about food and the hidden gem restaurants in Denver Colorado. And you know me, I like to keep trips cheap, so these places are pretty inexpensive running about $10-$20 per person, but the quality is amazing.
When I visit larger cities in the U.S. I tend to seek out international dishes just because they are so different and unique from what I can find in small town Iowa.
Our first foodie stop is Pita Fresh. Pita Fresh is a Syrian Middle eastern fast food place. Since I’m Egyptian, I’ve been feeling homesick and this was the perfect place to make me feel right at home. Pita Fresh invited me to have one of their delicious lamb and chicken meal with rice, salad and of course you can’t forget the humus. Not to mention the fresh bread made in the restaurant. And they also have a variety of other dishes including falafel, shawarma, gyros, and beef kofta.
The staff were super friendly and the restaurant itself was inviting and gave off a true middle eastern vibe. Something people may not know about middle eastern culture is that it is extremely inviting and hospitality is a huge cultural value. And it’s not just because I’m middle eastern. Nearly anyone who interacts with middle eastern people knows that this hospitality goes for all. I had Pad Thai with chicken and immediately I felt like I’m sitting in Bangkok. The flavors were so delicious and everything was so fresh, but I wasn’t done yet!
Then they brought out my all time favorite Thai dessert. The one. The only… Mango Sticky Rice with coconut. The tantalizing mango sliced on top of the sweet coconut sticky rice is pure perfection. It makes me wanna cry. I’m telling you if you don’t try this dessert, you’re missing a lot in life. Please try it and tell me what you think. And this wasn’t even all of the dessert. I also got Thai coffee which is a unique blend of thai coffee mixed with sweetened condensed milk. It’s perfect for a sweet, cold coffee lover.

Cava, a Mediterranean restaurant with customizable bowls, salads, and pitas.

I got the Greek chicken pita wrap. With tangy tzatziki sauce, pickles, tomato and onion. This was a great place to stop at for a quick bite while on the go. Everything at Cava is set up to be totally customizable too, so you can create something to fit any unique preference. I would like to thank them for the invite.
Now I didn’t have enough time in Denver to try all the unique restaurants that I wanted, but these are on my list when I come back.
