Award-winning film maker Antony Thomas follows the story of Christie, who is 24 years old and weighs 36 stone. She has been warned by doctors that unless her weight is drastically reduced, she could be dead within a year. Christie has opted for major radical surgery - a stomach-stapling procedure. However, the operation is a commitment for life, and patients have to take vitamin and protein supplements for the rest of their life, and return to have the folds of skin that form removed.
