An interpretation of "This is America" by Childish Gambino
Some of the points of the song that I sign:
-Dance is used as a coping mechanism
-We dance through our problems because we aren't focused enough on them
(He used two different styles of dances from Africa and from the African American community that are now popular)
-We are too into our cellphones and technology to focus on what's really happening
-We take GREAT care of our guns and not enough care of other things
-America controls us like a puppet master
-Instead of focusing on the problem, we are focused on ourselves and won't deal with our responsibilities
I haven't made a Sign Language video in a while and I thought this would be an interesting song to sign because of it's many messages. I couldn't touch on every point he made but here are a few of them. This interpretation is based on the lyrics and from the official music video.
The quality isn't the greatest nor is the size of the video because I have done everything only using my cellphone. Enjoy!
