Dust from your disk brakes
Dust from your disk brakes causes the polished aluminum wheels to tarnish and if the dust is not removed periodically, the aluminum will eventually pit.
DON'T use an automotive wheel cleaner no matter what the it says on the label, as it turns the polished aluminum black and can degrade the polished finish. I know because I tried it.
Use only Harley-Davidson Wheel Cleaner to remove brake dust.
I use Harley-Davidson Bare Metal Polish to maintain the shine of the polished aluminum on the wheels. Do not use it on chrome or painted items or brushed stainless steel (per the instructions).
