Hi guys
So I finally made a trip down to St Lucia in Northern KZN after making initial enquiries in June last year.  I had one goal in mind - get the last Kingfisher I needed to complete the Southern African Kingfisher list, the Mangrove Kingfisher.
Driving down to St Lucia from Johannesburg is an approximately 7 hour trip so needs at least a day to drive down and a day to drive back. The roads are currently very congested with mainly coal trucks transporting coal from the inland mines to the Richard's Bay harbour. They are also not in the greatest condition so it is advisable to drive during the day.
The trip turned out to be a great birding trip, stumbling upon two extreme rarities by myself after my trip to Hluhuwe had to be cancelled due to car issues, and then adding 14 more birds in 1 and 1/2 days with two guides.
The videos of the guided sessions will follow shortly as well as a trip to Cape Vidal which was outstandingly beautiful!

However, one of the things that didn't go well is all the car troubles I had on the trip, partly due to perhaps not preparing myself enough for the vehicle I was loaned but mostly due to poor service I received despite multiple warnings that I was embarking on a long journey. Check out the live video I did detailing part of the issue: Car troubles and early morning birdin...

More about another major mishap that was my own fault in a later video.
