Lesson 1: Climate scenarios and downscaling

Introduction to the key climate change data and the way they can be utilized in decision making in various sectors. The video will help you understand future climate scenarios in relation to the UNFCCC scenarios and see how climate downscaling is accomplished using the Global Climate Model (GCM) and the Regional Climate Model (RCM) as climate projection tools. Downscaling techniques such as statistical and dynamical downscaling are also discussed. The session concludes with the discussion of the climate downscaling limitations and uncertainties, and the importance of careful interpretation and usage of the climate data.
