*The Great Buddha of Sendai, which is the 9th largest in the world and the 2nd largest in Japan, is located in Miyagi Prefecture. If you have the chance to visit Sendai, be sure to enjoy the oversized statues that look like they've been processed with Computer Graphics!
I didn't go there, but it is possible to go to Matsushima for sightseeing by train in the afternoon after seeing the Sendai Daikannon
The Sendai beef tongue I ate for the first time in my life was delicious. It's probably the best food in the world.
