A how-to on setting up your Character Rig inside of Cascadeur for animating attacks with separate Weapon meshes, and importing them for use within Unreal Engine 5. I created this guide on my process to hopefully help other developers, as it took me a while to figure out how to get a setup where I can take advantage of AutoPose and AutoPhysics and then just export the character animations from Cascadeur, and have it line up correctly in UE5 where I attach weapons dynamically to my character in-game.

I don't go into detail on how, but this video assumes you have a Character FBX to import into Cascadeur that has weapon_r and weapon_l bones parented under the left and right hands. You could add these to any character or the UE mannequins in, say, Blender. If you want details on this step, or on adding armatures to weapons, let me know in the comments!
