The Israeli army will heavily rely on its D9R armored bulldozer if it undertakes a ground invasion of Gaza. A ground operation in the dense residential districts of the Palestinian enclave will require specialized equipment, experts say.
The powerful D9R is referred to by its Hebrew nickname “”teddy bear” by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The D9R can navigate narrow streets, extensive tunnel networks, booby traps, and sniper positions that IDF is likely to face in Gaza. It is also capable of detonating mines and improvised explosive devices, as well as demolishing obstacles in its path. With its ability to withstand guns and explosives, the D9R ensures the safe advancement of infantry as well as tanks.
