The backstory (I always like storytelling) is what makes it the best though. Ween went to Amsterdam for the first time ever in 1989, we had never left our area before that. someone arranged for us to borrow a friend's apartment. There was a shitty stereo and ONE cassette and we were blasted out of our minds on dutch weed and Hash. All it said on the tape was "Vinnie Bell". we searched the universe (and took the tape) to find out who this incredible guitarist was. and here's where it gets good. He was a session guy from NJ, and Greg Frey's father had recorded him many times. As it turns out, when Greg wanted his first guitar his dad arranged for Vinnie Bell to take him to Manny's in NYC and pick one out. Talk about a small world! He went on to play on Bob Dylan's "desire" and the greatest single ever "Green Tambourine" among other great singles. Later he went one to become famous for playing electric sitar and made some recordings and albums featuring that. Ultimately David Lynch got him to play the background music for "Twin Peaks." I've only ever seen this album pop up on Ebay twice and I bought it both times, this is the tape we found in Amsterdam tho, loaded outta our brains. This album is basically derivative of Les Paul, and ultimately Django, who every guitarist worth anything recognizes as the master. You guitarists can thanks me later, this was a game changer for me.
