Did you ever think you’d walk out of a Ranbir Kapoor movie thinking, “Shraddha Kapoor deserves better”?

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar review by Sucharita Tyagi - Today I watched a Ranbir Kapoor movie where Kartik Aryan is presented as the cherry on top in a guest appearance, a movie jahaan ek chillati hui maa adult bete ko thappad maarti rehti hai obviously played for laughs, a movie where a man who wanted to break up with his girlfriend STILL won’t stop complaining about how marrying her was a mistake WHILE she’s pregnant, ALSO played for laughs, I’ve watched a movie where aforementioned man says “aajkal aadmi aur aurat dono pregnant hote hain” unironically I guess I couldn’t tell behind Anubhav Singh Bassi’s overpowering facial hair. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar makes you feel bad and borderline uncomfortable for Shraddha Kapoor, who clearly is capable of a whole lot more, but for reasons unknown has been saddled with overtly dramatic dipshit parts for most of her career. In this one she’s referred to as “meri barbaadi” and then actively TOLD “tu mera saatva pyaar hai”, jismein oopar ke 6 are all the immediate members of the boy’s family, adequately jiske response mein the man should be unceremoniously blocked on all her social media accounts, but this is not who she is in this world and she does exactly what the man is expecting of her….toh chodo na yaar.
As much as the movie would like to believe the protagonist is a “flawed woman”, it is eventually only serving up “inexperienced and gullible until the right man comes along”. All her adventures and joie de vivre is only delaying the inevitable.
