La Palma Airport (SPC GCLA) is an airport located in Breña Baja and Villa de Mazo, 8 km south of the city of Santa Cruz de La Palma on La Palma in the Canary Islands. It is operated by Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (AENA), who operate the majority of civil airports in Spain.

The airport is served mainly by Binter Canarias and CanaryFly with island-hopping flights from Tenerife and Gran Canaria, but there are flights to the main Europe cities and charter flights from some important Europe countries as Germany, United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Netherlands.

So now you will see an approach towards runway 01. The forecast had a tempo that was not going to be in our favor. During our descent towards the airport we even received a METAR stating WS (Windshear).

This airport is interesting because of a few items.

Wind phenomena
Because of the high terrain west- north west of the airport you might expect a strong windshear on short final.

When hillside wind has a direction of 210 to 310 degrees and intensity is above 15KT, Approaches are not even recommended.

The weatherforecast was not in our favor as mentioned before.
(Tempo) Wind being 210/20G30

This airport has an NDB approach.
NDB approach runway 01 is 14 degrees offset and is it's preferential runway. There is also a NDB approach for runway 19 and is 19 degrees offset.

Enjoy the film!

All ATC and conversations are from this flight. Enjoy the view and film!
