Hello guys
Today ill show you how to update Sony Xperia P (nypon)
to android lollipop with custom rom like cyanogenmod (Now called LineageOs ) and OmniRom
So if you are on Stock Jellybean
first you have to unlock bootloader
BEFORE UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER MAKE BACKUP OF YOUR DATA AS IT WILL BE WIPED COMPLETELY

and follow the steps....
after that goto email and follow steps to unlock bootloader or try any tutorial from youtube :)

Once you have unlocked bootloader
download and install this software
"Flashtool"
link http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
INSTALL THE SOFTWARE TO C:\ drive
now goto this drivers folder inside flashtools
C:\Flashtool\drivers
install the required drivers
check the fastboot and flashmode drivers
also the xperia p drivers
okay
now
Goto phone settings and under developers options turn on usb debugging
now you have to download the rom from website which you want to install
There are lots of roms available
OMNIROM 5.1.1 - based on lollipop
LineageOs 12.1- based on lollipop
which ever suits you

Download the rom file
now open it up with winrar
im going with lineageos
select the boot.img file and extract it
to desktop
now copy the file to xperia p internal storage
also if you need google apps like playstore and play services
download gapps
link http://opengapps.org/
copy the zip file to internal storage where you put the rom file.
Now important part
POWEROFF YOUR PHONE
DISCONNECT USB CABLE IF CONNECTED ...
OPEN FLASHTOOL
CLICK ON THE FLASH ICON
FASTBOOT MODE
PRESS SELECT KERNEL TO FLASH
NOW PRESS AND HOLD VOLUME UP BUTTON ON XPERIA P AND CONNECT THE CABLE TO PHONE
ONCE CONNECTED IT WILL SHOW DEVICE CONNECTED IN FASTBOOT MODE
GOTO DESKTOP AND FIND THE BOOT.IMG FILE
SELECT IT AND NOW CLICK REBOOT TO SYSTEM
YOUR PHONE WILL BOOT
ONCE THE SONY LOGO APPEARS
PRESS THE POWER BUTTON
CONTINEOUSLY
..
YOU WILL ENTER TWRP RECOVERY
CONGRATS
NOW FROM HERE
CLICK THE INSTALL BUTTON AND SCROLL DOWN TO THE FILE
lineage-12.1-20170821-unofficial-nypon.zip
and click it
then
SWIPE TO FLASH
ILL SHOW SCREENSHOT BECAUSE I CANNOT RECORD WHILE IN RECOVERY :)
ONCE COMPLETED
REBOOT TO SYSTEM
AND AFTER IT BOOTS TO SYSTEM
YOU WILL HAVE TO AGAIN POWER OFF DEVICE AND POWER ON IT
ON SONY LOGO
PRESS POWER KEY REPETEDLY
TO ENTER TWRP RECOVERY
THEN FLASH GAPPS FILE
AS YOU DID EARLIER
REBOOT AND YOU ARE DONE
HAPPY FLASHING
