Born to a lineage of Carnatic masters, he was recognised as a prodigy before embarking on a successful performance career. He has worked with Hindustani and jazz artists as well as leading Carnatic performers, and finds time to teach many promising students of his own. G Guruprasanna is a Carnatic percussionist, specialising in the kanjira. He trained under legendary maestro G Harishankar, and has accompanied a swathe of top classical artists as well as collaborating with jazz musicians. Today he tours widely and continues to study under kanjira master Vyasa Vittala.
