Unboxing the Realme 8 5G,
Unboxing the Realme 8 5G, comparing the specs vs the Pro model while testing the gaming chops, benchmarking that Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset, and touring the camera tech. This isn't just a 5G-ified version of the original budget phone. The Realme 8 5G is a completely reworked smartphone with fresh optics, an IPS screen and lots more changes.
Here in the UK, this budget phone will cost £199 for the 4GB model, or £249 for the 6GB version - reduced to £229 if you get the Early Bird discount. It's released on May 20.
The 108MP camera of the Pro has been replaced with a more standard 48MP shooter, while that Ultra-Wide snapper has also been culled. That IPS screen replaces the OLED panel, while the Dimensity platform serves up next-gen connectivity. It's also fine for some Call of Duty or PubG action, boosted by Realme UI's Game Space feature.
Battery life on the Realme 8 5G should be strong thanks to the 5000mAh cell, although you don't get the Dart Charge support of the Pro. But overall, these are some strong specs for a hopefully budget price, which will be revealed at the official global launch!
