🚨 URGENT: Afghanistan is facing a devastating crisis. Over 15 million people are struggling to put food on their plates. But, due to a massive funding shortfall, WFP can only extend support to 3 million people. Hsiaowei Lee, WFP Afghanistan Country Director, urgently emphasises, “This goes beyond politics. We must focus on the people. The women, the children of Afghanistan."

👉 Key Facts:

WFP has had to cut 10 million people from emergency food assistance, and can now only support 1 out of 5 people who go to bed hungry every night. This is a dramatic reduction from last year when WFP could provide aid to 23 million people and avert a catastrophe.

1.4 million new and expecting mothers, toddlers, and pre-school children are at risk of malnutrition.

WFP needs US$1 billion for life-saving food and humanitarian response.

🕒 Time in Afghanistan is Running Out:

"Reducing humanitarian assistance when the needs are so high could lead to catastrophic hunger,” warns Hsiaowei Lee. “Without immediate action from the international community, a human catastrophe is inevitable, affecting the most vulnerable—women and children reeling from four decades of conflict, a crippled economy, and a worsening climate crisis.”

👩‍👦 Women & Children Most at Risk:

WFP is often the last lifeline for Afghan women and children, who are increasingly marginalised with fewer opportunities to feed their families.
