Filmed 03/11/2020 - Traveling US 87 between Eden and San Angelo, TX, in Concho County, you cross a Level III Ecoregion boundary when you leave the Edwards Plateau (30) into the Central Great Plains (27).  The terrain changes from a rocky live oak covered plateau to a flatter mesquite covered plain. You leave the Level IV Edwards Plateau Woodland (30a) into the Limestone Plains (27j). I find the Limestone Plains an ugly "mesquite savannah," however a few miles down the road the more attractive Red Prairie begins. The Red Prairie starts in Kansas and rune south through Oklahoma and along the eastern Texas Panhandle. Then a narrow band runs from Abilene down Ballinger and then San Angelo at its southernmost point.
