Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this video we witness a huge day for Locomotive Services Group's A2 pacific 60532 Blue Peter as he makes his Inaugural run from London Kings Cross to York following completion of his restoration at Crewe & completed in BR Express passenger lined blue livery just like the mainline tribal chief SNGLT's 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley.
Following the similar itinerary as how The National Railway Museum's A3 pacific 60103 Flying Scotsman did in 2016 when he returned to the mainline after a protracted overhaul at Ian Riley's.
We see the A2 at Doncaster on the ECML while working Jeremy Hosking's private train with the chairman himself & his invited guests onboard including music mogul Pete Waterman & railway spotter sensation @francis.bourgeois.
The shot at Doncaster was 50% ok getting the A2 working well on the down fast but not at speed due to delays in LNER & Grand Central services & constant warning from station staff & security to get behind the yellow line or they would get ejected from the station effective immediately.
The following day following a successful 1st day we see 60532 Blue Peter head for home back to Crewe via The Calder Valley on a stock move of 8 coaches & class 57 57311 in tow.
We start at Todmorden as we see the loco climbing well recovering from a wheel slip while going through the station the noise from his exhaust & the 3 cylinder beat was tremendous as the A2 passes by.
We overtake the A2 at Brewery Junction while the pacific was taking on water.
Our final clip of the stock is at Eccles on The Liverpool & Manchester railway as we see the A2 slowing down due to a signal check as he heads westwards.
This video is not quite over yet as we have a bonus for you all.
While we were in Doncaster awaiting for the A2 to pass by we finally had a chance for a reunion with The National Railway Museum's V2 4771 Green Arrow which had been 3 years in the making following his transfer from Locomotion in Shildon to the Railway Heritage Centre of the Libery in Doncaster.
We have a gd look round the iconic loco at close quarters as we end this video.
A real credit to LSL in getting the sole remaining A2 pacific back on the mainline after over 2 decades away.
We look forward to seeing the A2 in action again soon on his public runs on the mainline.
