Today - we took the most common problem of all the mixes we hear every day - an unbalanced frequency spectrum - and came up with a free plugin (FL Studio Patcher Preset & Ableton Rack) that will apply the concept of Equal Loudness Contour and create an "anti-curve" that will even out your tonal balance - making the frequencies that human ears are most sensitive to - quieter - balancing out your mix.
It's about understanding how human hearing works and applying this knowledge to your mixes. The Equal Loudness Contour, or Fletcher-Munson curves, reveal that our ears perceive different frequencies at varying levels of loudness. Remember - it's a static patch - use it as a helpful tool to diagnose your track, rather than a "slap-on" solution. It's also likely that your mix doesn't need it at all!
You will also get to know why you shouldn't always "trust your ears" ;)
You can use this patch no matter what genre you produce. Whether it's dubstep, progressive house, future house, drum and bass, hip-hop, RnB, bass house, deep house, hard trap & many more!
