The Arlec charger charges at
The Arlec charger charges at 2.5 amps. Forgot to mention the amps in the clip, the other advantage is this charger uses diodes without a capacitor which acts as a filter, which will give a saw blade effect on the 12 volt side and this also helps to start the de sulphating process. Smart chargers have a capacitor which lessens the saw tooth effect and the output becomes more DC like, this looks like a wavy line. All lead acid batters will lose lead on the plate over time as well as sulphur building up onto the plate. People have rejuvenated batteries form this point, however the capacity of the cell will only be 50% to 60%. Cost of this process in power and time outweighs the result.

Smaller batteries not able to take to many amps due to over heating which can lead permanent damage. This is mainly due to the plates warping and may short out. When using the rejuvenation mode, ensure that the battery is disconnected from the vehicle. This modes voltage can be up to 16 volts and may cause catastrophic damage to the vehicles electrical system.
If the battery has the amp hour rating on it use a rule of thumb of 5% to 10% rate of charge. the PC 800 has three levels of charge two, four and eight amp hour. Modern cars have a sixty to seventy amp hour. Eight amp hours is still safe as sixty amp hour is at 13% and seventy amp hour is at 11% due the charger will back the rate off to 1.2 amp hours.
