CPI's National Biologics Manufacturing Centre,
CPI's National Biologics Manufacturing Centre, based in Darlington, aims to significantly increase the UK’s manufacturing capability in biologics and strengthen the UK’s position as the location of choice for life science companies. It will support companies of all sizes to develop, prove, demonstrate, scale up and commercialise new biologic process technologies.
The Strategy for UK Life Sciences, published in December 2011, outlined a vision for the UK to be a global leader in the life sciences market and included a series of actions designed to nurture the sector and make this vision a reality. At the core of this vision was the creation of a large, open access hub for the development of manufacturing technologies needed to underpin the revolution in biologics derived medicines and vaccines.
