Immerse yourself in this journey as we begin with a Mass at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, the resting place of Saint Paul the Apostle. Witness our exploration of the city of Assisi, featuring a visit to the Church of Saint Mary Major where the remains of Blessed Carlo Acutis lie. #WorldYouthDay (WYD) is a global gathering with the Pope organized by the Catholic Church, occurring approximately every three years in different countries. Originating from the vision of Pope John Paul II, the inaugural event took place in 1984 in Rome, attracting a staggering 250 thousand #youths from diverse corners of the globe—far surpassing the anticipated 60 thousand attendees.
Despite the official registration of only 350,000 pilgrims for World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon, the actual attendance is believed to have surpassed expectations, possibly reaching as high as 1.5 million youth. All nations worldwide are represented, except for the Maldives, as stated by the organizers.
The upcoming Jubilee of Young People is set for July 28, 2025, in Rome, serving as a bridge between WYD 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal, and WYD 2027 in Seoul, South Korea.
