II. Cain: A Case Study on Self-Esteem (Gen. 4:1-14)
A. Lack of love for God produces guilt (vv. 3-4, 8)
1. Sin is a violation of the law of love (Matt. 22:37-40)
2. Self love is at the heart of all sin (Phil. 2:3-4)
B. Sin produces bad self-esteem (v. 5)
1. Sin affects the way we see ourselves (Gen. 3:7)
2. Sin affects the way we see God (Gen. 3:8-10)
C. Loving God produces the peace of God (vv. 6-7)
1. Confession brings the peace of God (Psa. 32:1-5)
2. Obedience maintains the peace of God (Isa.26:3)
