With two World Wars behind them and access to a stream of information, Gen Z born between 1997-2012 was a generation with seemingly great expectations and hopes. However, ask almost any member of this generation, and you will find a lack of meaning and pessimism within them. We find higher rates of major depressive episodes, higher rates of suicide, and increasing distress about humanity. What accounts for such a change?
This video explores what could be the cause of the pessimism of Gen Z with inference to media theory, philosophy, psychology, economics and more. We also explore a potential solution to this problem.
