Can Christians drink alcohol? Proverbs 31:6 says “Give liquor to someone who is perishing, & wine to someone who is deeply depressed.”

Today on #CrackYourBible, we’re talking about alcohol – beer, wine and liquor. Are Christians allowed to drink alcohol? What if Christians get drunk? What does God say about drinking wine in the Bible?
Unfortunately, when it comes to the topic of drinking alcohol, Christians have created fence laws prohibiting drinking, making some of their towns “dry counties” or making special rules prohibiting buying alcohol on Sunday – and it’s completely unbiblical. While some claim that Jesus never drank alcohol, Jesus Himself showed that while his cousin John the Baptist didn’t drink alcohol, He Himself did. Jesus was sippin drinks.

✝️ From the Bible we know that
• People who make extra rules tie up heavy burdens for people. Matthew 23:1-4
• People who made a Nazarite vow couldn’t consume anything containing grapes. Numbers 6:2-4
• John the Baptist didn’t drink alcohol, but Jesus did. Luke 7:33-34
• We’re to be sober-minded because the Devil is roaming around. 1 Peter 5:8
• Getting drunk leads to “wild living.” Ephesians 5:18
• God tells us we can drink when sad. Proverbs 31:6
• God has approved us drinking alcohol. Ecclesiastes 9:7
• We need to judge people righteously. John 7:24
• False teachers demand that people abstain from certain types of foods. 1 Timothy 4:1-5
• When it comes to food and drink, everything is permissible, but we shouldn’t cause our brother to stumble. 1 Corinthians 10:23-32
