Hello friends! Today we are going to explore 'Pink City' Jaipur and admire its beauty! Founded in AD 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan is popularly known as the Pink City. With broad avenues and spacious gardens, the city is steeped in history and culture. Here the past comes alive in magnificent forts and palaces, blushed pink, where once lived the maharajas. The bustling bazaars of Jaipur, famous for Rajasthan jewellery, fabric and shoes, possess a timeless quality and are a treasure-trove for the shoppers. Planned by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, Jaipur holds the distinction of being the first planned city of India. Renowned globally for its coloured gems, the capital city of Rajasthan combines the allure of its ancient history with all the advantages of a metropolis. Jaipur rises up majestically against the backdrop of the forts Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Garh Ganesh Temple. The bustling modern city is one of the three corners of the golden triangle that includes Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. The story goes that in 1876, the Prince of Wales visited India on a tour. Since the colour pink was symbolic of hospitality, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur painted the entire city pink. The pink that colours the city makes for a marvellous spectacle to behold. Jaipur rises up majestically against the backdrop of the forts Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Garh Ganesh Temple. Jaipur traces back its origins to 1727 when it was established by Jai Singh II, the Raja of Amber. He shifted his capital from Amber to the new city because of the rapidly-growing population and an increasing water scarcity. Noted architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya used the established principles of Vastu Shastra to build the city. There is a composite ticket for five of Jaipur's main attractions - Amber Fort, Albert Hall Museum, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and Nahargarh Fort. It costs INR 50 for Indians, INR 1000 for foreigners and INR 30 for foreign students. The ticket is valid for two days and can be bought from the ticket counter of any of the five monuments. The Old City of Jaipur is often referred to as the Pink City. It encompasses the old walled city around Hawa Mahal with a six metres high boundary wall. There are seven different gates that provide access to the Old City. The major gates are  Chand Pol, Ajmeri Gate, and Sanganeri Gate. Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Mubarak Mahal are some of the attractions located inside the Pink City. The vibrant bazaars of Jaipur like Bapu Bazaar and Johri Bazaar are also located here.
