Bessemer engine, serial number 23411. Rated 22.5hp at 180 RPM. Bore is 10" with a stroke of 15". Each flywheel is 70" in diameter and about 1,000 pounds each. The total engine weight is about 5,400 pounds. Ignition is via hot tube. It is a 2 cycle engine with a ported exhaust. I'm running off of two propane tanks, one unregulated for the hot tube and one regulated with no accumulator tank for the engine. The original company shipping card for the engine says it was shipped in 1921 to Carter Oil Company in Sistersville, West Virginia. The engine was restored by Charlie Gray of Ohio in 1993 and according to him the engine originally powered oil wells near New Martinsville, West Virginia. The original decal is still on the engine located below the gas valve.
