In my Woodturning| Fence Post Log to vase video you will see how I turned what was discarded into something with rustic charm.
It's a quick project and anyone could try it, please don't go chopping down farmers fences, they really don't like that sort of thing! Any scrap wood would do really, I'm sure most people have stuff hanging around in their sheds, workshops and firewood scrap pile.
I was careful to remove any old nails and staples before I mounted the log on to my lathe and then it was simply a matter of getting it spinning.
I didn't apply a finish because I loved the rough look to it and it still nods to the fact that it was once a fence post.
You will see the cordless WORX tool, the Maker X make an appearance in the video. I was impressed with this little gadget and it will feature in more of my upcoming videos.
