Episode 5: How I Sea It - Azipods

What propels a 306 meter, 130,818 gross ton mega cruise ship through the water?  On all ship's in the Celebrity Cruises' fleet, it's the azipods, a.k.a. an electrically driven propulsor with an AC motor incorporated in a streamlined azimuthing pod unit which directly drives a fixed pitch propeller. Throw in a little bit about thrusters and a husband cameo, and I promise THAT is as technical as this will get!  Check out how we use them in normal operation and emergencies, who maintains them, and why they're cooler than a Tesla!
