It may seem like common sense, but a recent study has confirmed that the poor and the elderly are the groups hit the hardest when the inflation rate rises.
The Bank of Korea study says low income earners and the elderly, classified as people in their 60s and 70s, feel the effects of inflation more than people in the middle class and those in their 30s.
The report is based on data released by Statistics Korea for the years 2011 through 2013.
Basic commodities like produce, rent, electricity, gas and other utilities take a bigger bite out of the pockets of the elderly and people in the lower class.
