It is less than a strategy plan
Aggregate Planning by definition is concerned with determining the quantity and scheduling of production for the mid-term future. The timing on an aggregate plan runs normally from 3 to 18 months.

Therefore, the plan is a by-product of the longer term strategic plan.

Aggregate planning can plan  two strategy

Example
A Tata  Motors car  plant manufactures several car models.
●  The plant can produce 20 cars per quarter for each worker.
● Workers receive INR 12,00000 per quarter.
● It costs INR 7,000 to hire and train a new worker and INR 10,000 to layoff
● Now  has 450 workers on staff and 1800 cars in inventory from start.
● Any cars in inventory at the end of a quarter has a
holding cost of INR 1,000.

Construct an aggregate plan for the next four quarters using the chase and level strategies and compute their total costs.
Level   strategy
Because Tata  has 18 00 cars in inventory from start, we
need to produce 7700  cars in period 1.

So company need to manufacturing
7700+12000+8800+ 13000 = 41500  cars in quarter 1- 4 and every quarter 10375

So we need 10375 /20 =518.75 = 519 worker to produce 10375 cars per quarter
