Meandering through the spectacular teak forests of God's own country, the Nilambur Shoranur railway line is one of the most beautiful railway sections in India during the monsoon season. Leaves of the teak trees brush against the train as it runs at a leisurely pace from the border town of Nilambur to Kerala's largest railway station at Shoranur.

Sadly, many trees have been felled to facilitate the laying of poles to support overhead electricity cables as the section undergoes a transformation, in line with Indian Railway's mission of 100% electrification of all its broad gauge routes.
