Optoma HD180/HD20 Projector - fix flickering after installing a new lamp

After installing a new lamp in my Optoma HD180 projector, the picture would be fine for a few seconds, then flicker, then the lamp would power off, and the lamp error light would light red. Fortunately for me, the fix was easy.
I simply had to replace the lens from the old lamp with the new lens. The lens has a special coating that allows certain light wavelengths through. If the new lens has the wrong coating, this may mess with the color wheel sensor which would cause the flickering.

The support has been awesome and they're replacing the lamp with a new one (hopefully one with a correct lens). If this happens to you, use the steps in this video to check if the lens is your problem. If you're old lens isn't damaged, just keep it or if it's damaged, ask for a replacement lamp.
