This is footage from back in June 2019 when I decided to start to learn how to transfer on my own without a Hoyer lift. Earlier in the injury I was extremely depressed and because of lack of stretching, my tendons shrank, and I am not able to lock out my elbows like most quadriplegics can. I have to "walk" on my elbows and then prop myself back up to a sitting position. Towards the end of the summer I got very good at doing the transfer and found an effective, workable technique. Unfortunately I only recorded the beginning stages. Currently at home I'm using a Hoyer lift by holding on with my wrists and swinging my legs and butt over with assistance. I will be posting some more footage of practicing over the summer and the Hoyer transfer that I do at home as well. I still need a lot of practice at home learning how to transfer from the chair to the bed because it's quite different from transferring onto a physical therapy table. STAY TUNED!
