Today marks 40 years to the day since soon-to-be Princess of Wales Diana Spencer and heir to the British throne Prince Charles announced their engagement.
The pair revealed the big news over two weeks after Charles proposed in early February.
Diana and Charles' wedding was held at Westminster Abbey on 29 July 1981, welcoming their sons Prince William the year after and Prince Harry in 1984.
Sadly, the couple divorced in 1996, a year before the Princess of Wales died in a car crash..
